How to Make a Box Pinhole Projector

A Box Pinhole Projector is a simple way to safely view a solar eclipse. Here's how to make one:

Materials needed:

A small cardboard box (shoebox size works well)
Aluminum foil
Tape
Scissors
A pin or needle
White paper or poster board
A ruler
Pencil
Steps:

Start by cutting a square hole on one end of the box. This will serve as the viewing window.

Cover the square hole with aluminum foil, securing it in place with tape. Make sure the foil is smooth and flat.

Use a pin or needle to carefully poke a small hole in the center of the aluminum foil.

On the opposite end of the box from the viewing window, cut another small square hole.

Attach a piece of white paper or poster board inside the box, covering the second hole. This will serve as the screen where the image will be projected.

Close the box securely and take it outside during a solar eclipse. Stand with your back to the sun, allowing the sunlight to pass through the pinhole and project an inverted image of the eclipse onto the screen inside the box.

Adjust the distance between the pinhole and the screen to focus the image. You'll see a clear and safe projection of the solar eclipse on the screen inside the box
