THE THING 2011 - The Prequel to John Carpenter's The Thing from 1982, using mostly newer CGI FX. In 1982, at a Norwegian Antarctica research site, the discovery of an alien craft leads to the events that precede those of the Carpenter film. The alien is able to take over the bodies of several researchers before discovery. Also a box office flop as was the 1982 film, and also now considered better than initial reviewers claimed, it's a pretty decent pre-story.
