Today I will go over a brief history of our monetary system and why we are at a juncture in which a group of nations like the BRICS and others are looking for an alternative to the current fiat dollar regime.

In an ideal world, it would be great if the BRICS summit next week planted the seeds of general rules on standards of weights and measures of gold and silver.

My feeling though is that if the BRICS make an announcement it would be of a system controlled by governments and not the free market and sound money. If this system is anchored by real money or gold though it would still be an improvement on the current fiat dollar system though.
