The entire Pacific Rim did not experience a pandemic from 2020 to 2021 (until the immune suppressing injections were rolled out). It was claimed that this was because countries such as New Zealand and Australia were more efficient at "lockdown" than their counterparts in the northern hemisphere. This ignored the fact that other countries in the Pacific Rim such as Cambodia, had no facility whatsoever to implement an efficient lockdown, yet had the same outcomes as New Zealand and Australia.

The same can be said for 'test and trace' (contact tracing), which is useful for certain diseases but cannot possibly work for a virus which floats on air currents for hours, meaning that you can never identify with any certainty, where you inhaled it from. Contact tracing is a highly complex intervention, only recommended in specific circumstances. Even with a disease coming from a central source such as contaminated food, it is common to never identify the source. Yet covid became the first airborne disease ever in which every case was reported in the media as definitively knowing where they contracted the virus. This was because 'test and trace' was erroneously marketed to the populace as an efficient disease control activity requiring that everyone use the digital tracking systems put in place.

A far more likely explanation is that the Pacific Rim region has more exposure to coronaviruses, as this is where they originate from. This would result in a different picture of population immunity than regions with less exposure, such as Europe and the USA.
