Over the last several years, we have seen politics play an increasingly significant role in the decision-making of so-called law enforcement leaders, attorneys general and elected officials. The rule of law is supposed to be immune to political influence and pressure. This is not the case today. The most notably absurd and dangers ideas regarding public safety and law enforcement have been championed by one of the two prominent political parties. Some of these ideas include no-bail policies, defunding the police, decriminalizing felonious behavior and mass prison depopulation just to name a handful. As future generations examine the current state of affairs regarding the degradation of law enforcement and rule of law, who will they hold accountable? Which party will be on the "wrong side of history?"
