Jeep Cherokee XJ 2.5 TD HEAT SOAK and Performance Degradation with Some Pre Trip Maintenance

I've been testing my custom turbo, manifold and intercooler setup over the last winter and its been performing well. Now that i've adjusted the manual VE Pump timing the Jeeps power feels balanced between the top and bottom end and the exhaust gas temperaturs are consistent and stable. Last month I did a trip to the mountains and the outside temps were around 28c. The jeep worked hard all day and it began suffering with heat soak with increased etg's and coolant temps. Since bringing it back in the shop I noticed my waterpump making a clicking sound, a smal hole in one of my intercooler couplings and a worn out viscous fan clutch. Obviously this would probabaly explain my issues, especially the intercooler hose with a hole in it as this would contribute to higher egt's which would have a nock on effect with everything else.
One of the issues with building custom setups like mine are teething issues and testing. I am going to go back to my old intercooler for a period of time to see how it performs on longer trips. I feel like my same side cooler is hindering the system with turbulence and possibly more susceptible to heat soak.
