BCAAs and Amino Acids. What are They? Do we need to supplement them?

Amino acids and BCAAs are often sold to us as a supplement we need in order to build new muscle. There are over 500 different amino acids but the body only needs 21 to make all of the proteins it needs to function, grow and of course build new muscle!
These are broken down into 3 groups, nonessential which are the ones our bodies can make, conditionally essential which our bodies make but under certain conditions like illness or hard training we may need to get additional amounts from our diet. The last group is essential amino acids these are the ones we need to live but the body cannot produce, so we have to get these from food sources.
