Black men in engineering today the future. This video is about Black men in engineering and the importance of Black engineering students leading the future of this profession and the impact of HBCU's on this future. In 2018, just 4.6% of engineering degrees were earned by Black students compared with 11.4% by Hispanic students and 61.5% by white students. Although still underrepresented, Black students occupy a larger space in engineering technology education. For 75 years, the Roy G. Perry College of engineering at Prairie View A&M University has established a rich legacy as a top producer of the nation’s most outstanding engineers, computer scientists and technologists black students. Prairie View’s Roy G. Perry College of Engineering is made up of six departments: chemical engineering, civil engineering, computer science, electrical and computer engineering, engineering technology and mechanical engineering. They offer a total of nine bachelor’s degrees, four master’s and one doctorate. Our master of science in engineering degree program provides the option for concentrated study in either chemical, civil, environmental or mechanical engineering.
