During the 2018 DeSantis For Governor Campaign, President Trump came in to support DeSantis, changing the face of the entire race. DeSantis' Opponent, Adam Putnam, would later say to Trump, "I went from having it made, with no competition, to immediately getting absolutely clobbered after your Endorsement [of DeSantis]."

Putnam was initially considered the frontrunner for the Republican nomination, but lost the primary to U.S. Representative Ron DeSantis after President Donald Trump came out in open support of DeSantis. ~ Wikipedia
