Peanut is a 2-year-old mutt who was seriously burned as a puppy. He doesn’t have lips anymore, and his eyelids are also gone, so he can’t close his eyes.

Residing in Greenville, N.C., Peanut and Chandler now stand as proud recipients of a towering four-foot trophy and the esteemed $1,500 grand reward.

The backdrop for this unusual contest was the Sonoma-Marin fairgrounds in Petaluma, Calif.
