WHO ARE THE 144,000?

The 144,000, Who are they? To Whom do they belong? What is their mission? Who is identifying them?
"And I heard the number of those who were sealed, one hundred and forty-four thousand, sealed out of all the tribes of the children of Yashar'Ahl." (Revelation 7:4)
