Do you recoil from this teaching that to be a disciple of Jesus one of the conditions is you carry your cross? Many people nowadays do recoil. We want to think of Jesus as my friend, my therapist, my coach, my prosperity, my ticket to an easy life. We don’t say what the Apostle Paul said, which is, “God forbid that I should glory, except in the cross of my Lord Jesus Christ.”
