Best multiclass build for your ranged build. You can modify this a bit like dip into fighter just for action surge. Over all this is common build in dnd 5e and it plays the same. Take Ranger first then go into rogue at level 4. I did not see a reason to go higher than level 6 as it is up to you on how you want to run this build. Make sure you hide and start fights on your terms. This way of playing the game will help on the hardest difficulty. Good luck and make sure you sneak and hide.
