VISITING DUNCAN DAM & AN ABANDONED MARBLE QUARRY - August 22/23 (VLOG 847) #abandoned #dam

On a rainy August 22, 2023 we hopped into the car to go exploring the north end of Kootenay Lake.

The first stop was at the entry gate to the dam on Duncan Lake but with limited view we then drove up to the viewpoint to have a better look. The Duncan Dam was spilling into Kootenay Lake so it’s a pretty impressive sight. This Dam was built from 1965 to 67 and produces no electricity. It was built as a storage facility, controlling the flow of water from the Duncan River into Kootenay Lake.

Back into the car and off we go…. to explore an abandoned marble quarry. This marble quarry operated from 1909 and into the late 1930s. It’s covered in graffiti but still an impressive sight.
