Flowers are beautiful. If you get some as a gift, you certainly put them directly into a vase and find a nice place for them in your home. But unfortunately, the beauty is short-lived, because cut flowers quickly become dry and leave the leaves and flowers drooping. However, there is a trick how you can keep cut flowers fresh longer and that is with a conventional aspirin tablet!

Aspirin contains the active ingredient acetylsalicylic acid, a hormone that is also found in plants and is increasingly produced to fight diseases. In addition, the ingredients of aspirin lower the pH of the water, so fewer bacteria are formed and the flowers last longer. The contained salicylic acid also strengthens the immune system of plants and in this way delays the wilting of your flowers.

To take advantage of this effect, simply add an aspirin tablet to the vase where your flowers are placed. Here, however, it also depends on the type of flowers and the dose! If you are not sure, it is best to add a 1/4 or a half aspirin to the water first. That way you can watch your flowers and if they react well to it, put a little more in next time.

With this little trick, you can enjoy your cut flowers a little longer and enjoy their beauty a little longer!
