Rachel Reeves just gave us four reasons to dump Labour.

Rachel Reeves has announced in the Torygraph no less that Labour under her and Starmer won't be taxing the rich.
Right, so if you wanted definitive proof that Labour under Keir Starmer are just a bunch of red Tories you will be wasting your vote on if you think they’ll deliver change, then Rachel Reeves ruling out 4 really obvious solutions to the cost of living crisis and aping the language of Thatcher really ought to do it for you. Let’s give her a good rinsing then. What do the ordinary working classes of this country need less of? Taxation. What do the ordinary working classes need more of? Cash in their own pockets, and more taxation on the right people, the ones that can afford it. So what has economics graduate and former Bank of England shill Rachel Reeves said in which case? What are these 4 things that would deliver this, or help to in no inconsiderable way, towards delivering? Well for one, no wealth tax. Forget taxing the rich, Labour aren’t going to do it under Starmer and Reeves any more than the Tories will under Sunak and Hunt. Second of all Labour have ruled out a mansion tax, which could be as simple as rejigging how council tax is measured based on property values in the 90’s as it still is. Bring in more bands at higher rates on bigger properties as one option, but of course mitigation might be needed in some circumstances. For most though, this would be perfectly affordable. Alternatively an actual mansion tax itself could simply be levied against properties over a certain value, a tax on the rich, it’s not we ordinary folk living in properties worth more than £2m for example is it? But no, all of this Rachel Reeves has ruled out too. Thirdly there will be no income tax rises and fourthly no capital gains tax rises. Income tax is tax on earned income, it’s what we who earn wages or are self-employed make. Starmer promised to increase the top rate of tax, but like everything else he promises, that got binned. Capital Gains Tax is taxation on assets that have gone up in value, taxation on the capital gain, is what it says on the tin, but most of us, ordinary working class folks don’t have a spare property or the like kicking around that might have gone up in value do we?
So what is Reeves justification for this? Raising taxes won’t lead to prosperity, I think you’re in the wrong party you ridiculous woman because I know, with your economic background, that you know better than this. For a country to prosper, you need to invest in it and it’s people and you’re basically saying, you don’t agree with that. Let’s look at the situation right now though.
