Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi launched Farmers Producer Organizations all over the country at Chitrakoot, 29th February 2020.

The Farmer Producer Organization (FPO) comes under the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare of the Government of India. The Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare is responsible for formulating and implementing policies and programs related to agriculture, farmers' welfare, and rural development in the country.

The Small Farmers’ Agribusiness Consortium (SFAC) is mandated by the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare to support the state governments in the formation of FPOs. The SFAC provides financial assistance and support for the promotion of FPOs.
