STIW Doober

This interview with Doober, a former Marine CH-53 pilot, covers his experiences in aviation, including growing up around, fixing and flying H-34s with his dad and being dropped off at his high school baseball game in a helicopter. He also shares a story about a varsity move in flight school that both impressed and frightened his instructor, but made it clear he was an experienced helo pilot, not a novice! Doober discusses how he was inspired by Marine pilots’ stories and grew up inspired by them. He flew in the same squadron his father flew in combat in Vietnam and pays homage to his father's life of leadership and honor. Additionally, he talks about his experiences flying in HMX-1, the squadron that flies the president and vice president.
