Lillian Lopez-Grant talks about the historic and cultural celebration that was started in 1540 when the Spanish explorer Francisco Vasquez Coronado stood on the banks of the parched riverbed and prayed to San Juan for rain. Coronado deemed that if the rain came it would be celebrated on June the 24th forever. Now we have El Dia De San Jan Fiesta to celebrate.
