Russia confirmed Wagner leader Prigozhin died in a plane crash

Russian authorities are confirming that the head of the Wagner group, mercenary fighting force, was killed in a plane crash last week.
Back in May, Wagner group leader Yevgeny Prigoshin was a star for the Russian government, seizing the Ukrainian city of Bakhmut with his private military fighters.
But his defiant march into Moscow with his soldiers in June had Vladimir Putin using words like treason and betrayal.
And now, a spokeswoman for Russia's investigative committee, Svetlana Petrenko, says there was genetic and forensic testing of the 10 victims of the jet crash and Prigoshin was among them.
Some experts had suggested Prigoshin used decoy planes and might have escaped the deadly crash.
