The 2004 presidential election cycle featured incumbent President George W. Bush, a Republican, and Senator John Kerry of Massachusetts, the Democratic nominee. The first debate featured a 90 minute discussion of foreign policy, with candidates questioned in-turn, followed by a rebuttal.
