Large Spider Runs Across Road - One of a PAIR

NO IDEA what these 2 large spiders were. Bigger than Wolf Spiders. Those "mouse spiders"? (Not related to the deadly ones in Chili or Australia). Biggest ones seen so far ... and was disturbing as there were clearly TWO of them that raced over and stopped in the middle weed strip. One raced back as I got cam out; we get to see #2 racing back to meet its buddy. Why two? Spiders don't hang out together far as I know!
