Nations around the globe are fighting over territory, power, and oil. But are there other natural resources that will force future wars? Will water be the next trigger?

When we look around the globe we hear of “wars and rumors of wars.” But few of us think about wars over natural resources like water.

However, powerful and ongoing droughts around the globe are drawing the attention of analysts and journalists alike. Droughts are now commonly mentioned in national and international headlines. We see large cities around the globe being added to a “drought watch list.” The following recent headline from US News and World Report highlights this point: “10 Cities Most At Risk of Running Out of Water” [link]. Ironically, many of these cities are surrounded by water - and London, England is one of them!
