The Royal Scam by Steely Dan ~ This Too is Not America...

In many ways, This is Not America (by David Bowie and Pat Metheny, two very Big Steely Dan fans), was the Follow up Song to the Title Track from the 1976 Steely Dan album, The Royal Scam, where Donald Fagen and Walter Becker went Out ot their Way to show Everyone, who could See and Hear the Truth in Plain Sight, that the World they were Living in was a Complete Lie, a Royal Scam of Epic proportions, where Up was Down and the Truth was now Lies...

In the Song, key subject after subject was broached by Donald and Walter, laying each bare as Lies of the Corrupt System we were Living, where EVERYONE in positions of Authority were Rotten Minions, willing to 'Look the Other Way', or Push specific Narratives that enhanced this Insanity, just as long as they got their 'Rewards' for such Criminal Betrayal...

The Album, the Royal Scam, was Steely Dan's Fifth Record, and each of their Albums represent the Chakras, from the Bottom to the Top, where their first Record was Can't Buy a Thrill, and all of the Songs were about being Stuck Within the Root, or Muladhara Chakra, being forced as the First Song, Do It Again, repeated, again and again, to 'Go Back Jack, Do it Again, Wheel Turnin' Round and Round...' By the Time that they got to their fifth Album, The Royal Scam, Donald and Walter were at the Throat Chakra, and as such, ALL of the Songs on this Brilliant and Scathing Record, tore apart the Illusion of Organized Society, revealing so many Lies, thru these Truthful Voices that spanned the Album...and this is why this Song, the Title Track, was the Album's Closer, and it is also why this was the ONLY Steely Dan Song, ever, to simply feature ONE chord throughout the Track...this was to drive home a Simple, but Powerful Message, that EVERYTHING we were Living was a Lie, and that we needed to Find the Truth, instead...

And this Truth, came on their Next Album, their Sixth, which was the Famous, AJA Album, which represented the Sixth In-Body Chakra, AJNA, which holds the Ark of the Covenant within the Third Ventricle of the Brain, meaning, the Truth of All Truths, and this is why that Album, laid out God's Beautiful Truth from Beginning to End...
