For the longest time, I wondered what was holding me back from doing the things I desperately wanted to do. I wondered why I dealt with such fear and anxiety when I believed myself to be a confident individual. What I discovered was that I had a toxic fear of failure, which was rooted in my pride and ego. We oftentimes associate fear of failure to people-pleasing, which I believe is 100% true. There's more to the fear of failure than that, though. It is the fear of being knocked off the pedestal we've created for ourselves. It is the fear that our facade of greatness will be revealed, and that our great claims about ourselves will be proven incorrect. It is the fear of humiliation. How did I uncover this truth about my fear? By failing, being humiliated, and realizing that life continued on. Even if all eyes were on me, they would quickly be averted elsewhere after my failure. The best part of humiliation, though, is realizing that you can't get any lower. When we are humble, there is no drastic fall, but simply a stumble along level ground. There is no fear of failing, because failing is normal and simply a part of life.

Moral of the story: allow yourself to fail and reap the fearless rewards.
