Tomato Review: Neves Azorean Red (NAR)

I started these tomatoes late summer with the intention of growing through the winter. This is a review of an heirloom tomato named Neves Azorean Red or NAR. Antonio Neves and his family immigrated from the Azores and settled in the Boston area. They brought with them their prized family heirloom tomato seeds. He grew out his favorite variety and kept selecting the seeds to develop a larger sized tomato. What resulted was the wonderful, and now popular, Neves Azorean Red. Is an indeterminate, regular-leaf tomato plant with decent-for-heirloom production of beefsteak tomatoes with terrific, bold, complex flavors.
