Flicker Jumps Ticker - Large Red-Shafted Northern Flicker Strafing in Barn Loft

One of the rare bird species I learned to identify; not rocket science for this guy. Is a usually ground-feeding woodpecker and having it up on a barn loft beam seemed unusual to me. They do excavate nests in tree trunks but assumed was just incidental. Hmm. Maybe I ought to check if its nesting up there. Close look at any rate! THAT woke me up.
