PHIVE PHEASANTS

Great healthy Red Neck Pheasant population here. So much so I had to run off at least one unethical hunter (blasphemy for the standard Montana courtesy) who ignored posted NO HUNTING signs and blithely went through the PRIVATE DRIVE gate to come right up to the creek before parking his truck on the alfalfa. Got out with rifle and released his dogs.
I was out in front compound doing some work. Watched in shock and had to call out by the time I reached the rim above this road before he disappeared in the brush. "Hey! WHO are you and WHAT are you doing?"
Amazingly he ignored first couple shouts until I had to make tone hostile. His was no better, claiming he had permission -- once, several years ago from a previous resident and besides, there were lots of birds here.
Damn. "This is now. No hunting. No trespassing. Remove self, dogs and vehicle immediately." More lip then a wave (we can see each other fine), "Fine. I'll just leave my truck here and work my way down --"
"YOU." Boy, I can bellow. Got his attention now. Whether he saw the holster get unstrapped was academic. "You're trespassing on private, clearly-signed property. You're resisting, arguing and now considered hostile. You need to get yourself, your dogs and your truck out of here NOW."
Grumbled assent. Sorry; triggered. What a douche. If I hadn't been out there it could very well be I hear a shot and watch Phineas get toasted in what essentially is my side yard. Do I have to carry the carbine with yard work now? No. This was truly an anomaly but watch it, birds!
Phineas has been MIA for a couple months and may be reasons.
