(Two Hours Later) And hey, here we are, and everything is fine. :^)

As it turns out, the Wii U does not support Gamecube Controller emulation using the Smash 4 controller adaptor. So, we go back to the tried and true Wii Remote and Nunchuck. Still, despite the technical difficulties and weird controls, this game is pretty fun!
