Ancient Discoveries On Mars

The Curiosity rover has dug into rocks to look for organics, or carbon-containing molecules. All life on Earth is composed of organic compounds, yet they can also originate from non-living things. These chemicals are easily destroyed on Mars' surface, making it challenging to find them. Ancient organics that have been preserved in rocks for billions of years have now been found by Curiosity. This discovery advances our knowledge of the habitability of early Mars and clears the path for more exploration missions to the Red Planet.
