Cigarette and tobacco packaging is covered with gruesome images and stark warnings, and brand logos are prohibited, lest an attractive font render us incapable of resisting.

These are just a few examples of areas in which the Tory government has introduced or enhanced the degree to which the state restricts our choices “for our own good”. Would a Labour government manage to be worse?
