Dear Pastor Bob: Isn’t the purpose of tithing to help feed people in the Church? In the Bible, the tithes seemed to be agricultural products, and went into a storehouse. This was for the nation of Israel, if I recall correctly. These days, tithing seems to be focused more on Christian ministries, many of which have nothing to do with helping feed people, or provide necessities. Also, tithing seems to be about money, and not agricultural products. So, do we tithe to ministries? Or do we tithe to feed those in need like we read about in Scripture? Also, is tithing to the local Church a Biblical practice? Do you have any thoughts on this topic?
