When to Pick Cantaloupe

Luckily, it's easy to tell when cantaloupe is ready to be picked. Here's what to look for: ⁣
• Rind is yellow⁣
•“Netting” on cantaloupe becomes rough and more pronounced⁣
• Stem easily separates from melon⁣
⁣• End opposite of the stem is slightly soft; the rind has a little “give” ⁣
• Musky, sweet aroma⁣
• Tendrils around fruit dry out and turn brown
⁣Cantaloupe will continue to soften once picked, but it won’t get any sweeter. Leaving it on the vine as long as possible gives you the sweetest flavor. ⁣
