Get Out of the Way

Think of a time when you were able to actually accomplish something after overcoming all the obstacles that were in your way. Think of how this felt to do it all on your own. What it was like to make mistakes, but to get back up and to keep going. Wasn't it an amazing feeling?

Why do we rob people of this experience? If we could just remove ourselves and allow people to do what they need to do on their own, they will learn so much faster what it is that they are meant to do and to even figure out whether it is something they want to do.

I think of this when I think of raising a child. Of course we want to keep them safe, but we also need to let them make their mistakes, learn how to handle those mistakes, and to grow from those mistakes.

The more we insert ourselves into somebody else's process, the less of a chance they get to develop their own skills and ways of dealing with the obstacles in life.

So I say, get out of the way 😉
