Your heart is important to god. It is the number one thing he uses to pull you to him or push you away from him.. To develop a perfect heart we need to strive to do things with the right heart. Many do the right things but justify the forbidden practices of God are essential are necessary for them to sustain. God is very capable of exceeding that which you have given up in order to be obedient to the word.

2 Chronicles 25:2 And he did that which was right in the sight of the LORD, BUT NOT WITH A PERFECT HEART.

This is an interesting statement that tells the whole story of that chapter.
You can do what is right and still not be doing it right.

You can do right but if your heart has not matured it is in vein. Your heart is far from the initiative.
