erinocenes have anti dementia effects - Study by Tsai-teng et al. investigating therapeutic potential and anti dementia activity of Hericium erinaceus in mice. The mycelia and ethanol extracts reduced the cerebral amyloid beta non compact plaques and increased the amounts of the insulin degrading enzyme as well as other benefits (decreasing amount of astrocytes and plaque activated microglia, promotion of hippocampal neurogenesis).

lions mane and amyloid beta plaques in rats - Study by Cheng et al. in 2016 found that H. erinaceus had neuroprotective properties against amyloid beta neurotoxicity. Free radical scavenging rate increased with a higher concentration of HE polysaccharides (antioxidant effects). Also reduced AB induced mitochondrial membrane potentials and prevented AB induced cell shrinkage and nuclear degradation

study with Alzheimer’s - A double blind, placebo controlled study with human participants by Li et al. in 2020 found that an intervention of 350 mg for 49 weeks improved contrast sensitivity and increased scores on the CASI (cognitive abilities screening instrument), MMSE (mini mental state examination), and IADL (instrumental activities of daily learning) in pts with mild Alzheimers disease.
