Caracalla

Marcus Aurelius Antoninus aka Caracalla, ruled the Roman Empire from 211 to 217. He was the son of Emperor Septimius Severus and Julia Domna. Both father and son set the trend of ruling the empire by way of military dictatorship. “Caracalla” is actually a nickname given him by the military, which he went out of his way to show kindness to, and made efforts to share in the suffering of the common soldiers. Although he is known for his brutality (mainly directed at rivals and potential rivals), Caracalla did not persecute Christians and Jews, as many other emperors did prior to the legalization of Christianity.
