The SBU neutralized the Russian spy network that operated at the Mykolaiv Oblast defense plant

The counter-intelligence of the Security Service conducted a multi-stage special operation, as a result of which the agent network of the Main Directorate of the General Staff of the Russian Federation (known as the game) was neutralized in the Mykolaiv region.

The perpetrators collected intelligence on the number and types of military equipment of the Defense Forces arriving in the region, in particular for repair and maintenance.

The resident (leader) of the enemy group turned out to be an employee of a local defense enterprise, who was recruited by Russian intelligence during his studies at the military institute of the former Soviet Union.

Since then, it has been in "standby mode" and was "uncanned" after the start of a full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation.

According to the instructions of the Russian game, the resident created his own agent network in the territory of the southern region. He involved his wife, with whom he worked at the defense plant, and two more acquaintances: from the regional center and Ochakov.

In this way, the attackers acted in two main directions of reconnaissance and subversive activities.

In the first, a couple of Russian agents were involved, who collected information about the available samples and the technical condition of Ukrainian weapons at the defense enterprise.

Two more enemy agents monitored the locations and movement routes of the Armed Forces units involved in the defense of the region or counteroffensive operations on the southern front.

The Russian agency transmitted the received data to its resident, who was already supposed to "report" to the "curator" of the game.

However, SBU counter-intelligence agents worked ahead of time - promptly exposed the Russian intelligence network and detained all four of its members in an attempt to transfer intelligence to the aggressor.

On the basis of the collected evidence, the investigators of the Security Service notified the three detainees of suspicion under Part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

The fourth defendant is indicted under Part 2 of Art. 114-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

All of them are currently in custody. The perpetrators face life imprisonment.
