Pregnant couple forced to live in tent, Money Laundering Forcing Employed into Homelessness

The choice to cease the search wasn't a simple one, but as the expenses for accommodations continued to rise, it swiftly became the sole option.

Maria Castillo, a mere 26 years old, has spent most of this year trekking home from her job as a support worker, feeling utterly drained.

She glances at her phone what feels like a million times, only to find out, time and again, that she and her partner have been turned down for yet another rental property.

Despite being newly wedded and eagerly anticipating the arrival of their baby boy, she never imagined that residing in a tent on the outskirts of Darwin would become her daily reality.

"It's been incredibly tough," she expressed. "[Sleeping is] not comfortable, you wake up with backaches and headaches. It's been quite a struggle."
