In this video I give tribute to Randal Graham and showcase two knives made in his honour

Knife 1 Built by Richard Brown
A puukko style neck knife inspired by the blade that Randal wore around his neck. The knife is made from 1086M high carbon steel forged close to final shape with distal taper and V cross section.
The steel as gifted to Richard by Randal and was part of a one-time batch made for legendary knife maker Howard Clark.
The handle is made from curly maple wood harvested by Randal. It has been roasted it to darken the colour and bring accentuate the grain.
The guard is made from re-claimed plumbing copper that has been hand textured.
The sheath is a traditional veg. tanned leather center seam, with a maple insert. It is carved with a raven / viking flag motif that was used often by Randal himself.

Knife 2 Built by Peter La Paix and Jamie Harris with the sheath built by Al Haliday
Forged from a bar of 5160 spring steel that given to Jamie by Randal
The bevels are hammer forged as close to the final shape as possible
It has a fitted brass guard and pommel.
Staring at the guard is black g10 then roasted AAA grade Birdseye maple also received from Randal, then layers of birch barks sandwiched between black g10. The center handle section is walnut, again received from Randal, then another layered g10 birch bark sandwich then back to Birdseye maple with it finished off with the peened in place brass pommel.

Sheath is made from full grain veg tanned leather, wet formed around a wood insert, saddle stitched using waxed nylon thread, hand dyed and then sealed with locally sourced beeswax. Then everything got a final coat of Leather Balm from Hammerthreads
