BATTLEMODE Plays | The Lords of Midnight | Ep. 04: Arriving in Xajekith
The Lords of Midnight is a truly unique CRPG/Wargame hybrid played from a first person perspective, originally developed for the Sinclair ZX Spectrum in 1984 by Mike Singleton, who sadly passed away in 2012 and who this remake is dedicated to. This new version is by Chris Wild, who has done sterling work in preserving and representing this masterpiece.
The Lords of Midnight is a story based strategy game that has remarkable depth, and was a ground-breaking experience when it was released in 1984. I think the gameplay holds up very well today, which will explain why there's still a dedicated fanbase that play it nearly 40 years after it was first released.

As always, many thanks to Adrian Von Ziegler for his excellent fantasy music: this one is from Queen of Thorns, a fantastic album for wintery, dark roleplaying sessions.
