"Why does the owl live in ruins?"
A person came to Imam Ja'far Sadiq (peace be upon him) and asked this question. Imam Ja'far Sadiq (peace be upon him) replied, "The owl used to be very kind to humans, used to live with them, and cared for them like humans care for other domestic animals. In the world, there are 205 species of owls. Owls always build their homes at a height of 20 feet. They prefer to live in desolate and abandoned places. When the owl hunts, it is so quiet that the prey doesn't even know it's there."
Now, let's move towards the question of why the owl lives in ruins. Imam Ja'far Sadiq (peace be upon him) answered the person, "Since the owl found out that Muslims had martyred the beloved grandson of the Prophet, Imam Hussain (peace be upon him), it expressed its hatred by choosing to live in ruins instead of among humans. And on the day of Ashura, the owl cries a lot."
