The city of Bakhmut, which has emerged as one of the important developments during the Ukraine-Russia war, is under intense attack by Ukrainian forces. Especially in recent days, Ukraine has been organising the biggest attacks on Bakhmut so far. An official appointed by Russia announced that Ukrainian forces bombed the city of Bakhmut and coordinated attacks were organised on some villages in the region.
Denis Pushilin said in a statement that several villages near the town of Lyman, north of Donetsk, were under attack by Ukrainian forces and that Bakhmut was under chaotic shelling. He said Ukrainian forces had massed assault battalions north of Bakhmut.
Bakhmut was captured by Russian forces in May, but Ukrainian forces began retreating from the flanks and recaptured several destroyed villages. According to the latest reports, Ukrainian forces are attempting to advance, conducting offensive operations near Bakhmut on 21 September.
Ilya Yevlash, spokesman for the Ukrainian Eastern Forces Group, stated that Ukrainian forces have achieved significant successes near Odradivka, Andriivka and Kurdyumivka.
Ukrainian President Zelenskiy said in this context: "We will liberate Bakhmut from occupation. I think we will liberate two more cities from occupation."
Bakhmut and its surroundings have been the scene of one of the longest and bloodiest battles of the conflict, while Ukrainian forces continue their efforts to retake this region.
