The plagues also answered Pharaoh’s original question: Who is the LORD, this YHVH that I, the Pharoah should obey HIS voice to let Israel go?
Some of the plagues also struck at the heart of Egyptian worship, especially at their priests. The Egyptian priesthood was extremely careful about hygiene and ritual cleansing; and this plague of lice made them unable or unclean so that they could not worship their gods.
