Relations between Poland and Ukraine have been tense recently. Following the crisis that started due to grain transport, Poland announced that it would stop arms aid to Ukraine and tensions escalated further. Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki stated that he decided to prioritise the defence of his country and announced that arms deliveries to Ukraine would be stopped. Now, Polish Prime Minister Morawiecki has further increased the tension by calling on Ukrainian President Zelenskyy not to "offend the Poles" by reminding his speeches at the UN General Assembly.
The Polish Prime Minister addressed relations with Ukraine, stating that a war for Europe's security was underway. Morawiecki stressed that they are helping by sending weapons and with organisations, but their priority is their own defence.
Morawiecki addressed Zelenskyy, saying that he should "never offend the Poles again", referring to his speech at the UN. Moreover, Morawiecki said that protecting Poland's reputation is not only my duty and honour, but also the most important task of the government of the Republic. We will defend our position in the current geopolitical context and we know how this position should be formed," Morawiecki said.
In his speech to the UN General Assembly on 19 September, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said he was concerned to see "some of our friends in Europe playing solidarity in a political theatre" by turning the grain supply into a thriller and helping "an actor in Moscow to take the stage".
