Polar Bears Hunt Beluga Whales

Polar bears occasionally hunt beluga whales, primarily during the summer when these whales migrate into the Arctic's shallow waters. Polar bears are excellent swimmers and can cover long distances in search of food. When hunting beluga whales, they typically wait near breathing holes in the sea ice or along the coastline. When a beluga whale surfaces to breathe, the polar bear may lunge at it, trying to grab it with its powerful paws and sharp claws.
