Vladimir Putin Commemorates the Baptism of Jesus Christ.

In 2018, Russian President Vladimir Putin marked Russian Epiphany by dunking himself into the frozen Lake Seliger to commemorate the baptism of Jesus Christ. This was the first time the 65-year-old Russian President has done this publicly. In Orthodox tradition, blessed water is considered to have healing powers. Dunking sites have been dug into ice across Russia by the authorities for believers.
