In this video, Dr. Berg discussed the thymus gland and stress. The thymus gland is a part of the immune system and it has cells called thymocytes, which make T-cells. T-cells are white blood cells that help protect against certain foreign invaders.

If there’s any weakness, you are going to be predisposed to getting viruses, and bacterial infections and it also increases the risk for diseases. The immune system is very important for fighting off diseases.

The thymus gland is also involved in getting rid of the T-cells that are attacking themselves (autoimmune conditions). An allergy means you have a hypersensitive immune system while a hyposensitive is when the immune system is just not able to respond.

Cortisol (stress hormone) lowers the thymus. After a stress event, there is always seems to be a susceptibility to pulling to these infections.
