Will Intermittent Fasting (One Meal a Day) Slow Metabolism? – Dr. Berg

0:00 Introduction: Will intermittent fasting cause a slow metabolism?
0:23 Low-carb diets and your metabolism
0:39 What causes a slow metabolism?
0:52 Keto and intermittent fasting
In this video, we’re going to talk about the effects of intermittent fasting on your metabolism, specifically when dropping to one meal a day (OMAD).
People often worry that they will slow their metabolism when dropping to one meal a day. As long as you’re doing keto, OMAD will not slow your metabolism.
When you’re doing a low-carb diet like keto, you’re tapping into your body’s fat reserve. Although you will be consuming fewer calories from food, you will be utilizing calories from your body’s fat stores.
If you’re on a low-calorie, high-carb diet, you will not be able to tap into your body’s fat reserve. This will ultimately slow your metabolism.
