Follow mode was actually to blame with this one. I think I changed the setting and didn't realize I was beneath the mountain crest.
Either way, the lil guy somehow kept flying even though the gimbal was super jacked up. I was able to manipulate it back into proper place for normal operations though amazingly. DJI is a great company.
